Dr. Odne S. Burheim is a full professor at Dep of Nenrgy and Process Engineering, NTNU. He specialised in heat management in electrochemical systems like fuel cells, batteries, super capacitors in addition to heat utilisation by electrochemical means. He is a leader of research projects in fuel cells, flow batteries and thermoelectric/thermoelectrochemical regeneration of waste heat. Dr. Burheim is also project leader for ENERSENSE, a centrally supported strategic project at NTNU aimed at the nexus between energy storage, energy efficiency and sensors/instrumentation and including around 15 Phd-students and postdocs. Burheim has had research stays of extended duration in the U.K., Canada, and the Netherlands.
Dr. Corti obtained his PhD in Chemistry at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), Argentina, in 1980. He belongs to the staff of the Department of Physics of Condensed Matter of the Atomic Energy National Commission (CNEA) in Buenos Aires. He is full professor at the Department of Physical Chemistry at UBA, and member of the National Research Council (CONICET). He has published more than 120 articles and several books related with thermodynamics and transport properties of aqueous hydrothermal and supercooled system, and the development and characterization of materials for fuel cells and batteries.
Mary-Rose de Valladares manages IEA Hydrogen, the largest global technology collaboration in hydrogen R,D&D. She has a track record for leading the transformation of ideas, policies, projects, organizations, and technology from concept through financing and development. Formerly with the DOE National Renewable Energy Laboratory, she is the founding principal of M.R.S. Enterprises, LLC, which provides management consulting services in energy & environment, technology development and sustainability. Ms. de Valladares holds an MBA from Georgetown University, an MA in an urban planning field, a BA in Anthropology and a Diplôme from the Sorbonne in Paris. She is proficient in four languages.
Ibrahim Dincer is a full professor of Mechanical Engineering at University of Ontario and visiting professor at Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of Yildiz Technical University. Renowned for his pioneering works in the area of sustainable energy technologies he has authored/co-authored numerous books and book chapters, and many refereed journal and conference papers. He has chaired many national and international conferences, symposia, workshops and technical meetings. He has delivered many keynote and invited lectures. He is an active member of various international scientific organizations and societies, and serves as editor-in-chief, associate editor, regional editor, and editorial board member on various prestigious international journals. He is a recipient of several research, teaching and service awards, including the Premier's research excellence award in Ontario, Canada. During the past three years (in 2014, 2015 and 2016) he has been recognized by Thomson Reuters as one of The Most Influential Scientific Minds in Engineering.
Mike is a Principal Consultant at Element Energy and has a decade’s experience working across the low carbon energy sector. In recent years Mike’s work has focused on hydrogen transport and he has led many of Element Energy’s activities in this area, which include project initiation, consortium building, and securing funding, through to project implementation, monitoring and data analysis.
Since 2015 Mike has managed a number of projects aimed at delivering coordinated deployment of fuel cell buses across Europe as part of efforts to commercialise this zero emission technology.
Jiří Dvořák works as manager at Grant Thornton Advisory, where he is also head of the energy team. He specializes on projects in the field of energy and smart technologies, which are focused on defining strategies and development of the transmission and distribution grids in the CEE region and their financing. He also works on innovation and research projects focused on energy storage solutions, alternative fuels (electromobility, hydrogen) and RES.
He gained his experiences during works on State Energy Policy of the Czech Republic and as a member of the team for preparation of several National Action Plans (Smart grids, RES) and during external work for World Bank.
Uwe has more than 30 years of experience in national and international industry in different fields: Automation and Drive, Power Quality, Power Distribution and Power Supply with various products and applications in the DC, low voltage and medium voltage range and in the sector of innovative renewable energy production. He worked in different functions as Software and Product Developer, System Integrator, Project Manager, Product Manager, Head of Electrical Engineering, CTO, Technical Sales and Member of the Management. He joint Proton Motor in June 2015 and the Companies Board in March 2016 and is now responsible for the Stationary Business Unit as Director.
Uwe studied Electrical Engineering at the Georg Simon Ohm University of Applied Science in Nuremberg.
Yane Laperche-Riteau - has more than 20 years of diversified European sales & marketing experience. Throughout her career, she has been responsible for identifying promising markets, increasing sales and implementing communications and advertising campaigns.
She joined Ballard Power Systems Inc. in October 2013 as Business Development Director for Europe, covering the whole range of Ballard fuel cell products and recently she has been more involved in the heavy duty market. She has been in the Fuel Cells industry since 2008 working for IdaTech LLC and developing sales mainly in Europe.
Before IdaTech she had various sales management experiences in the CCTV industry, high technology plastics and cables industries. She holds a degree in Communications.
Keno Leites studied at the Technical University Hamburg-Harburg (TUHH) and graduated in Mechanical Engineering/ship machinery and energy conversion. In 1998 he started to work in the department for Ships and Yachts at Blohm + Voss GmbH. He specialised in designing propulsion, electrical and auxiliary systems for Mega-Yachts and medium Cruise Liners.
In 2005 Mr. Leites moved to the R&D department. Within this department he is in charge of the fields of propulsion and energy supply as well as electrical systems. Furthermore he is responsible for new technology projects like HTS, LNG and fuel cells.
Currently he is project manager for the joint industry project SchIBZ and the development of LNG fuelled vessels.
Thomas Kattenstein (born in 1969) is Head of the Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Network North Rhine-Westphalia (FCHN NRW). The FCHN NRW is arguably Europe's largest regional initiative, geared to strengthening the fuel cell and hydrogen industry.
His tasks include the development of strategies for the future activities of the network or the state of NRW, the development of support programs in the field of hydrogen and fuel cells, as well as in neighboured areas, e.g. co-generation. Dr. Kattenstein also works on the initiation and monitoring of projects, the pooling of project partners as well as the coordination and representation of the NRW activities at the federal government, the EU and international committees. In this regard, he is active in the national working group, the EU regional partnership on hydrogen, fuel cells and electromobility HyER and the International Partnership for Hydrogen and Fuel Cells IPHE. Bilateral contacts with international companies and institutes are also part of its mission.
Thomas Kattenstein completed a degree in mechanical engineering, specializing in energy engineering / energy management and a doctorate in Dr.-Ing. at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum.
Shigeru Muraki joined Tokyo Gas Co, Ltd. in 1972. In 2000, he was named general manager of the Gas Resources department, and in 2002, he was named executive officer and general manager of the Gas Resources department. Muraki was subsequently promoted to senior executive officer and chief executive of the Tokyo Gas R&D Division in 2004, and then senior executive officer, chief executive of energy solution division in 2007. In 2010, he was named executive vice president and chief executive of the Energy Solution Division. In 2014, Muraki was elected vice chairman of Tokyo Gas, and in 2015 he was named Executive Advisor.
Dr. Myagmarjav Odtsetseg earned her B.Sc. degree from the National University of Mongolia in Nuclear Technology in 2008. She then went on to earn M. Eng. and Dr. Eng. degrees from the Tokyo Institute of Technology, both in Nuclear Engineering in 2012 and 2015, and completed her postdoctoral training in the Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA). Since 2017 she is a staff of the Hydrogen and Heat Application Research Center, JAEA, carrying out research on development of thermochemical cycle to produce hydrogen, membrane reactor as well as silica-based ceramics membrane.
Graduated from the Tokyo University of Science and joined to the New Energy and Technology Development Organization (NEDO) in 1992. Dispatched to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as a visiting scholar in 1997. Served in several positions, including Representative at NEDO Asian Representative Office, Director of the Energy Storage Technology Division, before taking up the current position in April 2013. Now serves as the Project Manager in charge of NEDO’s hydrogen and fuel cell technology R&D program.
Dr. Jon G Pharoah is Professor of Mechanical and Materials Engineering at Queen’s University and former Director of the Queen’s - RMC Fuel Cell Research Centre which he co-founded. He has been working with fuel cells for over 15 years and has expertise in both experimental characterization and theoretical and numerical modelling of fuel cells which is built upon a core expertise in computational fluid dynamics. Dr. Pharoah has spent time at the Norwegian Academy of Science and has authored over 80 peer reviewed publications, predominantly in the area of low and high temperature fuel cell characterization and modelling. These publications are well cited, with an h-factor of 21. Dr. Pharoah now focusses his modelling work on the development of open source tools applied to transport phenomena coupled with chemical and/or electrochemical kinetics. He strongly encourages the wide spread use and development of those tools.
Alexander Ramm has more than 20 years experience in international energy- and gas- supply companies including several leading positions. His tasks at innogy SE include the development of energy infrastructure also under consideration of hydrogen related activities. This implies representation in international committees as well as cooperation with various stakeholder groups. Alexander Ramm completed a degree in engineering at the Technical University Clausthal and an MBA at the FOM University of Applied Sciences for Economics & Management.
A chartered Engineer with 17 years industry experience. Dan started on British Gas’s graduate training program progressing to project manager for high pressure gas pipelines and pressure reduction stations. In 2008 he joined Rhead Group, a professional services consultancy, in the role of as Divisional Director for Energy (UK). Dan joined Northern Gas Networks (NGN) in 2012 as ‘Head of Investment Planning and Major Projects’ following supporting the network in their RIIO-GD1 regulatory submission. After undertaking several highly strategic roles within NGN Dan was seconded throughout 2016 to the UK governments Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) advising across policy teams on all gas industry and wider energy related topics.
Dan was the originator and Project Manager of the high profile H21 Leeds City gate project. Since returning to NGN in 2017 he has taken up the role of H21 Programme Director working on projects which are designed to delivery critical evidence for a hydrogen gas grid conversion. These projects are being delivered out of the H21 Leeds based office with the ultimate goal of supporting and influencing UK government and global energy policy.
Manfred Waidhas is Senior Manager at Siemens. He studied Chemistry at the Friedrich-Alexander University in Erlangen, Germany. His PhD is in the field of Physical Chemistry.
He joined Siemens in 1985 and had several leading positions in Corporate Technology. During that time he covered technology areas like water treatment, energy storage, fuel cells and hydrogen technology. He initiated electrolyzer development in 1997 at Siemens and prepared its transfer from a CTO project into a business unit.
Currently Manfred Waidhas is in charge of „Technology and Innovation” in the business segment “Hydrogen Solutions”.
Besides that he is chairman of the group “Chemie und Energie” of the German Chemical Assosiation GDCh.
