PGNiG launches new hydrogen program

Poland’s energy giant PGNIG’s plans to invest in hydrogen research, a green hydrogen production plant and a hydrogen refilling station in Warsaw. This investment of the state-owned gas and oil company PGNiG might be a signal that Poland is starting to see hydrogen as an opportunity. This is the second hydrogen project of PGNiG after the announcement of ELIZA in November 2018. Nevertheless this announcement is a surprise as it is in contrast to Poland’s conservative approach on energy policy. . The Czech Republic should also examine the economic and ecological potential of H2, especially in state-owned companies.
