The Czech Republic is committed to hydrogen

At (today’s) IPCEI event on December 17th, organized by Germany during its Council Presidency, the Czech Republic together with 16 other European countries signed the „Manifesto for the development of a European “Hydrogen Technologies and Systems” value chain” through IPCEI’s on hydrogen.

The manifesto describes the importance of hydrogen technologies as a tool for cost-efficient decarbonization especially of hard-to-abate-sectors like e.g. transport and heavy industries.
Through cross-border collaboration and large-scale joint investment projects the hydrogen value chain should be developed within four areas: production of sustainable low-carbon hydrogen, equipment manufacturing, hydrogen storage, transmission and distribution and industrial applications and build up hydrogen excellence in Europe.

The group invites other countries to join the initiative and presented a schedule for a first wave of IPCEI on Hydrogen. Match-making workshops during Q1 2021, project selection by Q4/2021, Start of project implementation in 2022.
