Představení britské vodíkové strategie

14. 10. 2021, Praha, online

14 October 2021  I 10:00-11:30 CEST

Overview

Concerted international action is essential to keep the goals of the Paris Agreement alive. To limit global warming below 1.5ºC by the middle of this century, we must urgently accelerate the rate of development and deployment of clean energy.

With multiple applications across hard-to-decarbonise sectors, hydrogen has the potential to play a key role in reaching net zero by 2050. UK government analysis suggests that 20-35% of our energy consumption could be hydrogen-based by then.

But hydrogen’s potential will only be fully realised if it can be integrated into relevant economic activity. Creating a global hydrogen economy is therefore a critical challenge.

The UK’s first-ever Hydrogen Strategy aims to address this challenge by driving forward the commitments laid out in the Prime Minister’s ambitious 10 Point Plan for a Green Industrial Revolution. The Strategy sets the foundation for how the UK government will work with industry to meet its ambition for 5GW of low carbon hydrogen production capacity by 2030.

This is a global challenge. Countries across Europe are focusing on the potential of hydrogen to contribute to their net zero transition, underlining the importance of working together to share experiences, identify challenges and build connections.

About the webinar

This webinar is an opportunity to hear from Government and industry experts about how the UK intends to rapidly and significantly scale up hydrogen production and lay the foundations for a low carbon hydrogen economy by 2030.

We will outline a comprehensive roadmap for the development of the wider hydrogen economy over the 2020s to deliver on our 2030 5GW ambition including the Hydrogen Business Model consultation, Low Carbon Hydrogen standard and a Net Zero Hydrogen Fund.

Collaboration with international partners is crucial to making the global hydrogen economy a reality. Learn about the active role the UK has in Horizon Europe and Mission Innovation, and where we can further work together to reach global goals.
